Forgot John Etheridge Last time!

What sort of gig did he play?

Ive seen him 4 times, different each time:

Cheltenahm Jazz Club - good jazz gig

Celtenham Jazz Festival he played very bluesy jazzy gig, and Nigel kennedy, who he later backed (thats 5 times) actually came in and joined the audience.

His Stephan Grapelli tribute gig - amazing.

I don't remember the theme of the gig but he was with John williams and perhaps 2 others.

That's an intreguing guitar. Is it dated? From a distance it looks Maccaferri-ish, but the headstock on M's is usually snake head and bodyshape is noticeably different, can't tell from the pic, but is the top slightly domed?. Is that a zero fret? Can you tell how the neck is is joined to the body?

Sorry, bit of a third degree going on here!

I have a friend who is into Maccaferri's and their musical genre, he runs a guitar shop called Antique Strings, and repairs double basses, I'll see if he's on the web.

You mention carbon fibre, i once repaired a guitar whose head was cracked to the point of coming off by routing two 5mm wide x 8mm deep slots about 100mm long across the break and filling them with carbon fibres an epoxy. It worked, but not too pretty.

I'd say yes to the swap Andy, but I don't think the strings for that shed are available in Spain , although I'd probably make a better noise with the shed!
