2008 PLANS

This year is set to be busy with touring, magazine work and teaching. I will be returning to Austria for a week to teach on Thomas Leeb's Residential Guitar Workshop in July  and holding several day long workshops in the UK throughout the year. At the moment I am very busy with my columns in Guitar Techniques Magazine - over the next few issues I will be continuing my look at the great acoustic blues masters focusing on Robert Johnson, Josh White and Brownie McGhee. In a few months time I will be writing a ten page feature on modern acoustic guitar styles and also filming the exercises for the covermount DVD. At the same time I am transcribing the music from a dvd feature with Ron Block and Dan Tyminski, the guitarists from Alison Kraus's band Union Station. These guys are great players and you won't want to miss this feature!

Thomas Leeb is fantastic.

I had hardly heard of him until early last year when he came to Belfast and did a special private performance for about ten people in the place I work (a hostel).

It was great, he even did requests.

It was the first time I had seen anyone making half the sounds on a guitar without even touching the strings. The wood was worn clean away on parts of the guitar. He even sang for us....apparently a rare thing....shame though as he had a great voice.

It was the performance that made me dust of the guitar again after a long time in the back of the roofspace. Inspiring.

Auf wiedersehen,
Mo
