Good acoustics don't cost a fortune
Posted On 12/02/2008 17:57:19 by folk4folk

Yes I'm guilty, and it's only recently that I've realised that acoustic guitars don't begin and end with Martins, Taylors and Gibsons.  I am the proud owner of a Crafter J12, Vintage V300 and a Art & Lutherie Ami.  Collectively these guitars cost me new under six hundred pounds.  All play superbly and have never let me down.  I did a lot of research before buying, and as an IT Luddite, I have to say I found the Internet invalueable.  Whether it been online forums or various retail sites.

It's also good that Acoustic and Guitar magazine give column space to affordable but good reliable instruments.  Both my Vintage and A&L were purchased over the net, and both played superbly out of the box.  Overall it's great that we have so much choice and great discounts.

Did you buy them without playing them first?

hi,
My Art & Lutherie Cedar is about ten years old now and plays really well (not me - just the guitar).   At the time I had the chance to spend a lot more and tried all the usuals but just felt right with 'Arty'.   My nylon is a Yamaha and plays really well.   Again it didn't cost me a fortune.

I fance a parlour and the Faith (saturn I think) seems really nice, plays well and is not going to put me back too much.

Here's to all the budget players!
