Julie Ellison brings her intimate, solo show to Trinity Arts Centre as part of the final leg of her 2008 national tour.
Julie’s live show interweaves compelling and memorable songs, beautiful guitar instrumentals and exciting interpretations of popular guitar pieces as she draws on her influences in ragtime, country blues, rock and classical music in a show that is moving as often as it is surprising.
As Julie explains, “It certainly isn’t a typical singer-songwriter show. There are still some people out there who think that the guitar is a ‘blokes’ instrument and I do notice some raised eyebrows, especially when I play the fast guitar tunes!”.
The last four years have seen her work alongside artists such as Midge Ure, Ralph McTell and 10cc’s Graham Gouldman, and she has made many live broadcasts on BBC radio. Her concert tours take her to theatres across the UK performing her unique mix of acoustic music, while her recordings have been broadcast on radio stations as far afield as Australia and Alaska.
“A terrific guitarist who also writes great songs” - Ralph McTell
"Fans of anyone from Bert Jansch to Joni Mitchell will find shades of what they like here” - 'Play' Magazine.
£10 (£8 in advance/concessions). Box Office: 01427 676655.
