Guitar playing, banjo playing. Golf. Scuba Diving.

Almost endless this one. LA Confidential, Sin City, Serenity, Spag Westerns, Godfather Trilogy, Zatoichi, anything by Kurosawa. One Upon a Time in America / The west (Sergio Leone). LOTR trilogy. I could go on but my fingers are starting to ache.

Traditional English, Irish, Scots, Americana. All things folkie (to a degree). Old timey blues and ragtime stuff. Classic rock such as Pink Floyd, Led Zep, Cream. Some classical, some jazz.

Anything by Jack Vance. LOTR. Ian Banks. Poul Anderson. Bit of a sci-fi freak really.

Scuba diving. Golf. Good red wine. Good food. Good company. Great films. Good books. Great guitars.

Bad guitars. Studs in lips/tongues. Cheap and nasty red wine (or white for that matter).

As far as guitar playing goes, I've been playing on and off since the age of 15 or so. I'm now 54 so I've been playing a while...

The single most important influence on my playing of late has been Martin Simpson and I do a lot of his stuff and generally play in that style along with the tunings he uses; so we're talking CGCGCD, DGDGCD, CGDGCD, CGCFCD to name a few !

Hi, How did it go at Mr Simpson's? Comments re. guitar? I'm in the process of recording mine, I put some new pieces on my profile and now that I know how to record at a decent (ish) quality I'm going to have another bash this weekend (pale reflection of the real thing though). Thanks for joining the "I can play Anji" group - 7 members now, no recordings yet . . .

Cheers, Jonny

Hi Ian thanks for the request, hope I was'nt too long in responding, I didnt get notified about it....

Its a shame your gatherings are so far south, as I would love to attend one. I'll keep my eyes peeled if I'm ever down that way.

Best wishes

Mark

Hi Ian

Thanks for the comments. I really wish I could do that open tuning style that you do. Maybe sometime we could work out something with the mandolin. I hope I can get to your summer event before I have to go to the gig. Good that you might kick off at around 2pm. Anyway I'll probably see you before then.

Hi Ian

Paul (Scorpio Dog) has told me about your weekend get togethers for guitarists.    As you know I play (or try and play) mandolin... and was wondering if I'd fit in?    It sounds like a great event in any case.

I'd be grateful for some more info.   Hope to meet you soon at one of the Get2gethers.    Cheers, Sharon
