I play the guitar; that's about it.

In the Heat of the Night (Sidney Poitier & Rod Steiger), the Commitments, the Marx Brothers, all the Boulting Brothers films but especially the ones with Peter Sellers, Sean Connery era James Bond, any old b&w movie on a wet Saturday afternoon which acts as a backdrop to guitar practice.

An endless list. All the greats from the pre-war bues era. From the new era, Michael Messser, Eric Bibb, Keb' Mo', Rick Payne, Catfish Keith, Harry Manx, Tom Doughty, Michael Roach, Rory Block, John Miller, Cephas & Wiggins, Louisiana Red.
And seventies rock for nostalgia and when I'm kidding myself I'm exercising.

Any music played live with passion & sincerity.
Guitars, guitars, guitars and more guitars, especially resonators.
Pre-war acoustic blues
Playing live to audiences who don't throw things.
The English countryside at its finest

Music which is as close to sincere as McDonalds is to fillet steak.
England when it's damp and the sky is as grey as a sheet of lead

Thrashed a Strat in my teen years. Gave up in my twenties. Bought an acoustic in my early forties to play Postman Pat for my 4 year old daughter.
Got the bug again and started playing fingerstyle blues. Started playing slide a couple of years after that. Now, about 8 years of blood, sweat & tears later, sing & play solo or in an acoustic trio about 3 times a month and help run an open mic.
Still can't play Postman Pat. Does anyone have the tab, please?
