2008 PLANS
This year is set to be busy with touring, magazine work and teaching. I will be returning to Austria for a week to teach on Thomas Leeb's Residential Guitar Workshop in July and holding several day long workshops in the UK throughout the year. At the moment I am very busy with my columns in Guitar Techniques Magazine - over the next few issues I will be continuing my look at the great acoustic blues masters focusing on Robert Johnson, Josh White and Brownie McGhee. In a few months time I will be writing a ten page feature on modern acoustic guitar styles and also filming the exercises for the covermount DVD. At the same time I am transcribing the music from a dvd feature with Ron Block and Dan Tyminski, the guitarists from Alison Kraus's band Union Station. These guys are great players and you won't want to miss this feature!
STUDY STUART'S PIECES!
I'm very proud to announce that two of my compositions, 'The Coast Road' and 'Auburn' and my arrangement of 'Sally Gardens' are in the new RGT/LCM Acoustic Guitar Grades Syllabus at Grade 8, 7 and 4. In addition I recorded all the syllabus pieces for the CD which accompanies the Grade books. The books are available now from www.registrypublications.com
HEAD OF GUITAR, BIMM BRISTOL
I have been asked to take on the role of Head of Guitar at The Bristol Institute of Modern Music (BIMM Bristol) when it opens in September 2008. This is the sister college to the famous and highly successful Brighton Institute of Modern Music (also known as BIMM). There are some great names associated with both schools, for more information take a look at www.bimm.co.uk
