My first steps to guitar makeing
Posted On: 23/09/2007 16:57:40
I was not shure that I had the skills to start this project, I was the proud owner of two bits of sitka spruce AA and I was about to join them together at the thin bit!! and then I was to carve out a shallow round channel to take the rosette so it was near enough flush with the surface of the top with no gaps round the edge. I would like to point out that my wood working experience to date was makeing wobbly bits of units out of precut timber and sharpning pencils, however I took my time and it did'nt turn out to bad [see my gallery]. I bet you can't wait for the next thrilling installment. Watch this space.

Been there myself with wedges for an archtop.

The secret of finishing the instrument is not to look too far ahead, never try and work out when it will be finished.

My first archtop build covered 2 years. However as it was built in an unheated garage I had,nt bargained on one very cold winter and one very hot summer slowing it down.

Keeping going, the first time you play the finished guitar is MAGIC, and after that it becomes part of you!!

Soon have some pictures in my gallery, will have a photo sesion this weekend
