Thickness Caliper
Posted On: 28/10/2007 20:48:01

I thought I might make my own thickness caliper they are $98.50 on Stewmac so rather than makeing a plywood, pencil and rubber band contraption I used a piece of ally cut to shape its a pain to cut with standard hacksaw blades but thats all I had at the time, I then smoothed the sharp edges with a file I then fitted a guage I brought from Machine Mart for just under £20 and there we have it would'nt win any prizes for looks but works a treat and cheap.

There is a pic in my gallery but I can't get it here!

Hi

Check out my gallery, there are pictures of a simple thickness caliper, accurate to about 1/2 millimetre, and one similar to yours - the gauge cost £9.99.

Very necessary for the archtop top, as the thickness varies from 3mm at the edge to 6mm in the middle.
