Default Introducing the new love of my life....

Today is a joyous day in the Rodders household, as I have taken delivery and ownership of a 1952 Gibson LG-2. As country blues is my main music of choice, I thought I should get a guitar that fits the bill - and this one certainly does that.

You can definitely see it's been played, but it's in good condition - and it has an incredible sound which breaths an extra bit of life into my playing. Anyway here's a couple of pics for those that are interested.

It sounds incredible - it has quite a mellow but suprsingly loud vibe. The LG-2 is by no means the most desirable of vintage Gibsons - but they are becoming more sought after. I love it. I think the first song it asked me to play on it was 'Delia' - I even played it with my pinkie anchored, and just used my thumb and index finger!!

Well, as a 1949 model myself I have to say that your slightly younger guitar is wearing a lot better than I am! Congratulations! Looks lovely - I really like smaller guitars, and since seeing and hearing John Hiatt playing one I have also been in love with early sunburst small Gibsons. A quick recording would be nice......

Love of your life? More like a dirty weekend ;-) - I've just seen it on eBay - you shouldn't tempt me like that!! Good luck with the sale anyway.

I know, I know, I feel awful. I've fallen out of love. It is a great guitar, but it's just not quite right. Back to Avalon I think.......
