Default Another Southern Session ?

Anyone fancy an all things musical get together later in the year for those of us down south ?

I would be willing to use my place as a venue. I might even lay on a chilli. For an appropriate gastronomic reference on the chilli, consult Sliding Wolf, who has tasted one I did earlier, Lefty Guy has tried it as well and since the've both posted here since it probably isn't a terminal experience.

Actually, maybe I should wait until my Sobell has been built, then you guys can come here and drool a bit. As for myself and as a banjo owner, involuntary salival secretions are just part of life's rich ?? dang, yee hah, can't remember the dogone word !

Am typing this whilst enjoying a nice bottle of red - Paul (Scorpiodog), if you're reading this, the red is the stuff that makes it look like a weekend spent indoors up in Sheffield in the congenial company of Martin Simpson was really a couple of weeks in Egypt, tout a fait sans sun screen.

OK, so the wine's starting to take over... Now where is that geetar ?

Cheers guys,

Ian

P.S. For those that don't know, I'm down near Southampton...

Bravo Ian. I'm up for a get together. Chilli very welcome on these cold late Summer days, probably even more so when it really is Autumn.

I always thought banjo players had red necks. Your picture with Martin Simpson seems to show you must be one goldarned heckuva banjo player yes indeedy doody. You've got the whole redface thang goin down there, Sonny Boy.

Seriously though, if you organise it after you take delivery of the fabled (hushed tones here!) Sobell, I'd better wear something green, just to show how jealous I am. Yep. Assuming I can do the date, I'll be glad to come.

Paul,

Thanks for the reply. I think I will leave it until after I've got the Sobell - that alone might just generate enough interest for others to come along...

Thanks also for the link re. Elixirs

Cheers,

Ian

OMG - I've just looked Sobell up on the internet and discovered they are half an hour away from me! I've been all over the place looking for a good guitar and didn't realise there was anything of this class under my very nose!!
Doohh!

Certainly be up for that, depending on time, date and my ability to read a calendar correctly.

Guys,

Keep up the interest ! I'm off tomorrow for a week's diving in Egypt so I won't be playing much over the next few days.

All the best,

Ian

Hi - if you are ever in Sway (17 miles west of Southampton in the New Forest) on the second Friday of the month, come on into the Forest Heath Hotel, the Sway Acoustic Blues session has been running there for 10 years (10th anniversary is actually the Oct 08session!). All acoustic players / singers are welcome, there's usually around 6 - 10 players, its pretty informal - no stage, just sit in the bar - mixture of guitars / dobro / mandolin / double bass / saxaphone / harmonica and whatever else turns up (the only place where you'll find two double bass players!) - the emphasis is on encouraging participation and having a good time - novices and seasoned players all welcome!.
We kick off around 8.30.
(ps good idea to bring some finger picks! - it can get lively!)
Cheers, Mike.
