Default Beginners Guitar

Hi,

I'm just starting out learning to play guitar.
I've been offered a guitar from a friend who's having a clear out.

It's a Takamine EG460. It's virtually new and can get it for a lot less than it would cost me new.

Does anybody have any comments on this guitar and it's suitability for a newbie?

I'm sure it'll be the first of many purchases but best not get ahead of myself!!

Cheers.

Without knowing how much you can get it for, it's hard to say. Personally I would say it is more of a second guitar. For a beginner, and I'm pretty sure I won't be the only one to say this, there is only one guitar you need look for - Vintage V300. This is an incredible guitar for it's price (around £80), and it won the best guitar under £1000 award in one of the main guitar mags last year.

Go with your instincts, Ross (non shareholder Vintage Guitars).

With a bit of arm twisting have got him down to £120.

Seems a good deal if compared to this guitar new.
Have played it ( with my v.limited ability) and it sounds quite nice.

That does sound like a good price. Go for it.
