Ben Howard has scooped two of the most prestigious and hard-fought awards at this year’s BRIT Awards ceremony.
Fighting off high-profile competition from the likes of Calvin Harris, Jake Bugg, Rita Ora, and Plan B, this young Devonshire singer-songwriter stunned the London O2 Arena by snatching victory in both categories that he was shortlisted for, Best Breakthrough Act and British Male Solo Artist.
Ben also gave a stirring performance of ‘Only Love’ live at the ceremony.
Yet it’s a victory that shouldn’t surprise anyone. Ben has quietly gone about things his own way, building a huge and fiercely loyal fanbase, selling-out each and every show he has played across the globe for over two years, and selling in excess of 400,000 copies of his Mercury Prize nominated debut LP, Every Kingdom in the UK alone. The likes of Only Love, Keep Your Head Up, The Fear, and The Wolves have quickly become radio hits, and Ben rightly takes his place as one of the unlikely big hitters in BRIT Awards history.
