Queen of folk Joan Baez has announced she will be releasing a new album next year – and heading on her final tour.
The legendary singer, songwriter, activist and Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame inductee will release a new studio album Whistle Down The Wind – through Proper Records, produced by Joe Henry – in March 2018. This will be her first new record since 2008’s acclaimed Day After Tomorrow.
In conjunction with the release, Baez will begin her extensive 2018 world tour – including UK dates in March and May – on March 2 in Stockholm.
Baez, who last performed in the UK in 2014 when she sold out four nights at London’s Royal Festival Hall, said: “While 2018 will be my last year of formal extended touring, I’m looking forward to being on the road with a beautiful new album about which I am truly proud. I welcome the opportunity to share this new music as well as longtime favourites with my audiences around the world.”
